Radiation Monitoring Systems

The RMS Division of Mirion Technology has designed and manufactured Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) since 1965. It is the world's leading supplier of RMS, with over 15,000 measurement channels installed throughout the globe. The excellent productivity, reliability, longevity and maintainability of our product range, coupled with our numerous lessons learned, mean we can offer our customers the very best value for money, in terms of both investment and operating & maintenance costs.

Gamma and Neutron Radiation Monitors

Gamma and neutron monitors continuously survey dose rate or equivalent dose rate in nuclear facilities for personnel exposure as well as for process monitoring.

Particulate, Gas and Iodine Monitors

Particulate and noble gas monitors continuously measure the volumetric activity of a radioactive gaseous sample or gaseous sample containing particulates. The iodine monitor is developed to continuously measure the gamma volumetric activity of a radioactive iodine sample, either in molecular or organic form. The samples are drawn from discharge stacks, ventilation ducts, reactor buildings or working areas via a pumping system.

Samplers

Samplers have been developed to continuously sample air from effluents stacks, ventilation ducts and/or working areas in a mild environment or accident conditions.

Combination Monitors

The mixed measurement channels are a set of various simple measurement channels regrouped on the same frame to satisfy a specific need for combined measurement. As an example the PING measurement consisting of particulate, iodine and noble gas channels, allows continuous monitoring of the volume activity of gaseous effluents of any nuclear facilities work area or around nuclear processes.

Liquid Monitors

The liquid monitors measure the volumetric activity of liquid from a pipe, a tank or a pool.

Special Monitors

The steam generator leak rate measurement channels are designed to measure leaks that can occur between the primary and the secondary circuits. It detects the presence and level of Nitrogen 16 into the secondary circuit of a PWR or VVER nuclear power plant which indicates a potential steam generator tube rupture.

Spectrum Analysis

Mirion provides spectrum analysis monitors consisting of real-time multi-channel analyzers that continuously survey the presence of radioactive materials and provide isotopic specific alarms. The activity and the spectra are displayed on an appropriated screen.

Detectors

Using more than 50 years of "in-field" experience at nuclear power plants and research centers, the RMS Division has developed many detectors for use in both normal and harsh environmental conditions for various applications.

Software

In order to interface with these complex monitors, we have developed a number of software tools to assist the users of the equipment. Four different software packages can be supplied with RMS monitors performing maintenance and monitor set-up, channel display, supervision, spectrum processing and simulation.
