Iodine Monitors

Iodine 131 (a by-product of reactor fission) can form a vapor that can be transported great distances in the air. Iodine monitoring systems use NaI(TI) scintillation detectors with a built-in Am241 source for compensation of temperature changes and drifting. In fixed and mobile configurations, these systems detect gamma activity of radioactive iodine samples in both molecular and organic forms.

  • Embedded 241Am source for energy spectrum stabilization against temperature changes and drifting
  • 1,024 channels spectrum analysis
  • Effluent trapping of both molecular and organic forms of iodine
