Radiation Safety Equipment for Nuclear Medicine Training

Gurnick Academy’s Associate of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology is a 24 month program designed to prepare students for careers in diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine. The program combines distance-education coursework with hands-on clinical training, covering radiopharmaceutical preparation, radiation safety, and modern medical imaging technologies.

Mirion Medical Executive Vice President Luis Rivera Shares:

“We are always excited for these opportunities to contribute to the next generation of healthcare professionals. We know the power of hands on training with real radiation safety equipment, and we hope these tools will help students build the practical skills they will need to ensure quality care and patient safety in the clinic.”

The donated kits include seven radiation shielding and safety products used during the preparation and handling of radiopharmaceuticals. These tools help bring classroom learning to life in the academy’s laboratory training environment, where students learn how to safely manage radioactive materials used in nuclear medicine procedures.

By integrating professional-grade radiation safety equipment into laboratory training, students gain hands-on experience with the tools commonly used in hospitals, imaging centers, and nuclear medicine departments. This real-world exposure helps students build the technical skills and safety awareness required to work confidently with radioactive materials in clinical environments.
