Fission Counter

Designed to detect thermal neutrons in the flux range of 6 to 6 x 10 5 neutrons/(cm 2- second). The counter is extremely rugged and will operate in any orientation at temperatures up to 570EF (300EC).

Description

The WL-23110 fission counter is designed to detect thermal neutrons in the flux range of 6 to 6 x 10 5 neutrons/(cm 2- second). The counter is extremely rugged and will operate in any orientation at temperatures up to 570EF (300EC).

The counter is constructed of materials having good “neutron transparency” and low neutron activation properties. The thermal sensitivity of this counter is approximately 0.18 cps/nv throughout a wide range of applied voltages.

Below is a typical counting response data set for the WL-23110 FC. This data was acquired using Mirion (IST) electronics. The neutron data was obtained with the fission chamber positioned within the Mirion (IST) ACP Neutron Source Box.
